Memoria - Engine modifications
I thnk this is a silly thing to be arguing about, you might not mind it but I think most people who don't tend to visit this forum would mind it if they were to play through FF9 for the first time and be able to walk through Cleyra the rat tree, Kuja's palace, Oilevert and a lot of other DUNGEONS with 3-4 encounters sometimes even less.

Compare that to how many battles you have to go through in the crater in FF7 or in areas in FF10. For instance there's that underworld passage under the sea in FF9, I remember that area being very frustrating on the ps1. That is why it has two shops in it, one at the start and one at the end so you can resupply on potions. In the steam version you can walk through this area with I don't know I guess 5-7 encounters, despite the fact that you're solving a puzzle down there and pulling levers.

It's not what the game is supposed to be like, and I wouldn't want my buddy who I gifted the game to to have to experience the game this way. It's easy enough to begin with to remove all the random battles are going to make it easier still. But thanks to Albeoris we're finally fixing these issues which are game breaking, after he releases the new version of his program I'm going to put together a "Vanilla mod" and upload instructions and an ini file for new people of this game who want to experience it as it's meant to be experiended. Not so much a mod as an unofficial patch to get rid of all the shit that came with the android.

I wouldn't be opposed to "fixing" some other issues the game suffered from even on the ps1, making the bosses a bit more difficult for example wouldn't take away from the experience at all. Letting the player squirm a bit more while fighting the bosses, I wouldn't know how to do this but it can't be that hard to raise their hp a bit. The font would also have to be replaced, the final improvement would be resized menus but unlike the other issues this isn't game breaking just slightly annoying.

When this patch is put together I'll inform my acquintance and he might stream it which would be entertaining for me and him. Then I'll bid you guys farewell and wish you good luck with your...uhhh mods which intorduces new abilities and new music to the game.
