Sure, there's better widescreen resolution support now, and button prompts (whooooo! /s) but just watch the intro FMV and you'll see how badly it runs now. Or better yet, remember the mod that sped up the framerate to 25 FPS so battles didn't look utterly trash? Yeah, not only did they make the base framerate worse somehow, but the mod is broken, too. lolololololol

Part of the reason FF7 took so long in production was because the guy responsible for overseeing the project was also responsible for overseeing Kingdom Hearts 3 and had to keep going back and forth between the NA office and the Japan office to do it. That apparently held up production by months.

That said guys please stop. This is irrelevant to this thread and you've dedicated at least 3 pages to this argument that has devolved to slinging insults and pointless arguments that accomplish absolutely nothing. Especially since I sincerely doubt SE bothers to even read these comments.

The whole Seiken Densetsu series has been remastered/remade multiple times, Chrono Trigger got a PC port which they later fixed, they've remastered several Star Ocean games, too. Think before you type, dude.

Meh FF8 got a lot of similar attention. The mods for that actually compare to the current remaster. So much so that it actually hurt their sales for it. That said guys you aren't going to agree on this and this argument is getting old fast. Please just drop it or at least move it to a dedicated thread somewhere. Or to Discord or something.

We all want to see VI remade, but the truth is we have to give them a reason to. Fan-made remakes and even mods sometimes get a C&D (look at the various Chrono Trigger remakes that got shut down), but that garners attention. Classic VII has a TON of mods, even fan-made projects in the vein of FFVII R. No other FF game comes close to that kind of devotion. Does it mean VII is the best one? Not at all. I actually think VI takes that trophy, and I really do hope they remake it. But I'm not gonna get all butt-hurt if they pass over VI in favor of another one. It's just pointless raging at that point.

Anyway, I'm hoping that we get some news in that regard. It would be nice if we even got remakes of their other IPs. The Trials of Mana remake did pretty well, so that might encourage them to do more remakes. I'm really hoping for some Tactics/Vagrant remakes. Only fair since they remastered XII.

When he has absolutely no real say in what should happen with their own property." Meaning us gamers hold little sway over what games they decide to remake or port. The sales numbers dictate that more than anything else. But I suggested you get in contact with them, through social media, or their customer support, whichever works for you, man. I wish you the best of luck in that regard, but the reality is they're not going to see it here. You're preaching to the choir.

You say I'm the one "threatened" here, but you're projecting your insecurities on others. And you continue to assume that I've only ever played VII, and thus have no say in this matter. I don't even think you're comprehending a word I've said. I don't deny that VII has its issues, or that it doesn't deserve the fan-favoritism it has. I've only pointed out that for various reasons, VII got remade first, and as vigil stated, they're going to finish the rest of the game for those reasons. Seems valid to me. Aren't those reasons good enough for you? Or are that far in denial? I've even stated that I would like them to port/remaster the older games, especially I and II. I even posted a quote from Nomura, who questioned why they skipped over those games.

None taken vigil, but if said company doesn't take into account all of their IPs & instead puts all their eggs in one basket; expecting profits to justify overly narrow actions as well as attempting to push their own ideals on the market instead of listening to said market & expanding their install base (like with how they pushed 2 more crappy FF13 titles on us & how Square STILL overly focuses on FF7 instead of giving the other titles their time in the light) then said company runs the risk of turning into another Activision, EA, Blizzard or Bethesda...& do ANY of you really want Square to fall that low?

Atari huh? Yeah I played a little of that for a while. After PS1 though if I remember right. I'd honestly forgot about it. You know they used those things as the computer in space shuttles for a while?

As to what "deserves" a remake it really doesn't matter. SE has always been about balancing both the player base and the profits. FF7 got a Remake out of sheer demand for it and from what I was reading for a couple years they almost didn't do it because there wasn't enough demand.

I won't deny FF5 6 and the rest are good games and I won't say they aren't popular. Especially in certain circles. But there isn't nearly as much demand for them to be truely remade yet. I'm not even sure if SE will do FF8 and 9 like I heard they might. Though FF8 got a remaster fairly recently.

I'm actually shocked that vigil hasn't shut this conversation down already. No one's "threatened" here, man, you're just assuming things, again.

Anyway, I'm gonna leave this here, in regards to an interview with Nomura from 2015, in regards to remakes:

"Considering that we have remakes of Final Fantasy up to IV and then we have VII... I’ve been working with Mr. Kitase since Final Fantasy V, and we’ve noticed that V and VI are missing. That bothers me. How come we skipped over those two?"

So take from that what you will. Does it mean they'll eventually do V and VI? Who knows. VII got chosen next because it got the loudest response. The crowd that started the series in '97 outnumbers us old-timers. So just chill, accept that fact, and bide your time. Contact them if you must. In the mean time, play the originals like everyone else (and you know I don't mean these inferior Steam "ports.")

Clearly you're fixated on what's old and done with, and very much blind to what gamers nowadays even want. Are there people asking for a remake of older FF games? Sure. It doesn't matter if FF7 is more popular, there are PLENTY of things that are popular that don't warrant the attention they get since it's only due to it being people's first experience with said subject (JRPGs in this case) & therefore the bias favoritism from that blinds those people to the short comings of that example.

And again I said they existed however the gaming market was MUCH SMALLER & therefore advertising wasn't as aggressive, so thanks again for proving that FF7's popularity is no way to judge it's ACTUAL worth when compared to FF6 since fewer people were playing games when FF6 came out. It doesn't matter if you saw them or not GuyInDogSuit, clearly you were either born AFTER FF6 was released or the part of the world/country you lived in didn't have nearly enough people playing games in it to warrant the commercial to play enough times for you to have seen it.
