That game was Pathologic (in CIS/Russia known as "Мор. Утопия").
Also there is a new launch of that game soon. Pathologic 2 comming soon. Probably at the end of 2018.
Pathologic 2 is basically the same Pathologic but on the new beautifull engine with developed story and gameplay.
Once upon a time I noticed a pirate version of one strange game. Downloaded it, played it... and it touched me so deep that this game became one of my all time favorite. After days of playing it I buyed 2 licensed copies of it and donated money to developers directly — to show my gratitude.
So that the developer got more money after all, than if I had bought just one licensed copy from the beginning.
