Get to the Choppa!

Sometime next week the public version of the l4d2 demo will be out. If your not sure if the game is worth it, then this will decide it for you.

The demo is good times. While l4d2 isn't as ground breaking as the original, it breaths new life into the gameplay and gives it some much needed depth. Everything has been tweaked and improved in some way. The melee weapons and dismemberment of common infected really add to it. Using a frying pan is more fun than it looks.


Known issues: Multicore rendering can cause frame rate spikes. Weapons are too close to your view. Both of these are being addressed.


Minor and very noticable bug: there are many animation glitches in the demo.

Annoyances: It uses the old l4d server finding system.

Gameplay changes: The biggest gameplay is finding weapons. There are also a ton of them which keeps things fresh. There will be times when you need to pick up a new weapon simply because your current one is out of ammo. Don't under estimate the power fo the magnum handgun either.

Tips: Time your melee attacks and get a rythem going. Batons suck.


Boomer Bile: It is best used as a combo with molotov. Toss the bile on some common and then the molo. It will attract all nearby zombies into the fire. Combo it with a molo on a tank to really screw him over. Ultimate FU is to throw it at a boomer. But be warned, if there are no common around, the game will spawn them in, which means you will have to deal with them when the boomer dies... you called the horde for him basically. Don't waste your time throwing it on a witch.


Special infected changes: The only change in the demo to standard special infected is the Tanks AI. It will now down a survivor and move on to the next one instead of concentrating on the crippled one.
Female Boomers have a 25% chance of replacing the standard boomer. There is no gameplay difference between the two.

Finally, The demo is only co op and sp. It is 2 full maps. Not all the weapons are in it. Valve also has a few gameplay changes not in the demo.
