The gamemode is getting old, and I haven't taken care of it for the past years. It's getting dated, the references and jokes are getting old, etc.
The supporting features (login system, webmaps, plugins) are also old, custom and very difficult or impossible to maintain as-is.
I haven't been around to take care of the servers and gamemode.
The current rented server costs just over 200$/month, and website is ~20$/month. Donations have not been covering this for quite a few years now, and that's fine.
I know much cheaper hosting solutions could be found easily, but moving would require a good amount of work. Plugins and login system are windows specific, there's lots of things in place for mitigating attacks, servers need good ddos protection.
The amount of players on the servers now is pretty low regularly, and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with me not maintaining anything, but it is what it is.
So all those factors are what led me to think it's time to shut down the servers soon. It's not an easy decision after all these years, but it has been 16 years after all.

I'd love to hear your (the remaining admins and community) thoughts on all this.
