Could anyone explain what happened with the server dying? I lost interest after some 2 years of playing, came back for a day to find the once always populated server at 0 players for a long while....

The forum died too and so did the teamspeak. What happened? Could anyone give me some conclusion on the server's fate?

Good ol' Komastu here! I was back from my way too long hiatus from G-MOD during a pretty rough time, but I was sad to see Concordia is gone! :( If there is any future plans with bringing it back, I will ALWAYS be awaiting that group notification to come on back. Concordia had its problems just like every other community, but I do admit that the experience I had at Concordia was unlike any other. The meetings, events, and TS dnd was really a cool experience and its sad we have to return to other servers. With that being said, its been an honor and a privilege to be apart of this community.

Nic, you may have banned me for zero reason, or you may have not liked me personally and I don't have the fatigue of running the server nor do I know where you are but I will absolutely give credit where its due and admit you ran the most successful of these servers. I, like many others am very sad this server is gone. I appreciate that Nic at least heard me out in ideas, gave me advice when I was applying for staff, and genuinely cared about the branch that my friends and I all cared about. I know if you didn't want to run it anymore and passed it to someone qualified that this server would still be running today.

Sure it was a popularity test and sure there were some ♥♥♥♥ decisions made (such as making research whitelist only) but at least Nic gave a ♥♥♥♥ about research. The reboots randomly picked a moderator or a random ex Concordia MTF for head researcher and then ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off and did absolutely nothing with the branch, meanwhile I was constantly spamming and asking if I could get promoted beyond junior researcher into SENIOR researcher or research supervisor (I would call 7 years of experience as senior, most people joined in 2019 in like v4 of the map). The reality is that research is just as important in the server as security, research drives the lore of the server and security helps to act it out. Think of the research branch as the screenwriters, and security, MTF and the CI are the primary actors. How could black swan, the test of 106, the tests on the hole, or anything else event wise have happened without a strong research branch.

Security was also great too with people like Dinklehowzer, Hendrickson, and the CI had Wolff and others who made the server great. After getting senior researcher along side Timbit I decided to start playing CI where I would meet Yuumi, and she saved my ass by promoting me to a sergeant in security after becoming a CAPTAIN, keep in mind that Yuumi was a player who came out of nowhere and in little time because of good gameplay and roleplaying managed to become an essential part of the server.

The greatest thing about Concordia was its meritocracy. Of course you had to kiss a lot of ass and become known on the server but it wasn't a completely exclusive circle jerk like the reboots would end up becoming, and it also bothered to promote new players into level 3 positions, rather than what every reboot of the server would end up doing, which is having 90 percent of the player base at level TWO and the 10 percent be flagged as Tau 9 in a code green.

I saw an opportunity to play security or research. I didn't want to play MRP at the time, I was tired of it and it was boring to me and I wanted to use my love for SCP lore as a tool to guide the server and be much more clerical and behind the scenes. I joined research and Brown was so funny that I stuck around just for his sense of humor, but DVL elections came and Duncan became head researcher. It was also during this time I would take the server more seriously, I began to learn everyone in research were great people and really made the community what it was, people like Timbit, who I was coming up with and eventually beat me in a run for HR, people like Duncan, Calico, Brown, Pred and a whole list of other people involved in research.

A rant from an OG 2015 player:
Concordia was simply the best Gmod server I ever played and the community, the gameplay and the events and coordination of the server helped to create a massive community of diehard fans like myself that after 7 years and multiple failed reboots still look back and have a deep sense of nostalgia for, especially now that I am much older. I originally joined in 2015 with NITRP and would end up spending hundreds of hours in the server, and when I was banned by Nic I was honestly totally devastated and it took a while to get over it.

Also, if anyone knows the story of what happened to concordia while other server hermits were away, you should totally make a long ass message here explaining so people stop asking lol

Played on this server quite some time ago. Curious about the "downfall" it apparently underwent. I used to spend hours on it, went by "Nightmare" before my first PK. Really mostly what I remember is getting told "You should be more present on staff forum posts if you wanna get staff" which led to me getting banned cause I didn't understand exactly *where* i was supposed to be commenting. Lol. Well, I play on a new SCP server now a days, so I guess old habits die hard.

Nic if your reading this, you should unlock the dang forums so I can look back at my pasts "Character Lore" and just remanence. Honestly, tried wayback machine and that was a bust.

This was honestly one of the best Gmod servers in my opinion, really missing it and how well it was made.

This was literally my childhood, sad to see it’s gone. Thomas Winstance was a G one of the first research supervisors if anyone remembers
