By breathing manually you get to feel every breath go in your lungs and escape them. If you like that feeling, manual is the way to go. If you like being able to breathe without having to focus on breathing, automatic is better for you.

Like what Kirbs said, I feel some people prefer to breathe automatic or a manually. You just have to find whatever is comfortable.
