Base Building Basics
Hey guys! I thought I'd start a little discussion on the basics of building a secure base. I'll start it off by mentioning a couple critical points newcomers might not be aware of. This will help them along the learning curve a little and hopefully avoid being an easy target for a raider.

First things first, location! Location is critical when it comes to keeping your hoard safe. I personally recommend your main base be placed somewhere off the beaten path, in other words, not too near roads, radtowns, monuments or any other place that will be likely to attract players. Try and use the terrain to your advantage and build such that the terrain conceals your base somewhat. This will make it harder for wandering players to spot should they happen to pass near your base.

Second, Tool Cupboards! I use the plural because I recommend placing more than one Tool Cupboard. The reason being, if your first is found and either destroyed and/or you are de-authorized from it, you have a backup/s to prevent unauthorized players from building within its' radius.

There are many other base building methods and designs one can employ to keep themselves and their hoard safe, these are probably the two most important in my opinion. Of course, players come up with ideas they will not be willing to share. somewhat of a trade secret we'll say. But as you all progress through your Rust careers and gain experiences, your own base building process will develop and improve. I know getting raided kinda sucks, buy try and turn it into a positive by looking at how your base was penetrated and learn from that. Then either repair your base to prevent that and/or use that knowledge in your next build.

Anyone else who wants to share tips on base design, feel free to add to the discussion.

Happy Boa's Rusting!

BTW, forgot to mention, the Tool Cupboard prevents unauthorized players from building and deploying within its' radius. The radius is roughly 30 metres.

One other thing I might add, that falls in the base basics category in my opinion, would be multiple sleeping bags within your base. Of course, the more separated and secure each bag is the better. Reason being in case a

frickin'

raider gets in your base and destroys your one and only bag, then it's much more difficult to simply get back to your base. ;-)
