Why do PC games never have Splitscreen????
I have 2 Xbox 360 controllers. I have a TV. I have friends. I should be able to play splitscreen. But for some bizarre reason, every dev on the planet has decided that PC gamers can't have splitscreen. Why not?

Whenever my friends come over and I hook up my PC to the TV we have to either play emulated console games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart, or take turns playing singleplayer. The only PC FPS that supports splitscreen without hacks/mods is Serious Sam which I'm not even a little interested in playing. Come on people!! PC is supposed to be the gaming master race, why are we missing such a basic and fun feature?? Am I the only one that wants this?

Because the main audience for multiplatforms are consoles. PC games are supposed to have multiplayer over network. I'm not saying you are wrong, but is just the way it is.

Also, you can check the website called Cooptimus for a complete list of PC games with Splitscreen (or any other MP feature).

So is it because theres just not enough people like me who want that feature? Or are devs ignoring it for some reason?

I've been on cooptimus a few times, thats how I found Serious Sam had splitscreen. I went on there earlier today though and found out that CoD Black Ops 3 is going to have splitscreen on PC! I was really surprised that they were adding things like that and dedicated servers. It might be the first CoD game I've bought in years

You can try out Kane&Lynch Dead men, Portal 2, Lego series, just explore steam store with "split screen" filter enabled. But anyway you're right. Also Dirt 3 and Showdown support split screen mode if you want some races

I thinks it's because of piracy. I'm also noticing the LAN games feature is taken out of a lot of games especially FPS

I think it is because only recently have a lot of people use their PC's in the living room, so developers only included online co-op because they thought it wouldn't be worthwhile to put it in, which is why there are only lots of local multiplayer games on steam coming in the last 5 years.

Tip: Try filtering your results to "Local Multiplayer" instead of Split Screen so that you can find more games to play with your friends.

I've searched on Steam for local multiplayer. Unfortunately theres almost no FPS games like that on Steam, and most of the ones there are look kinda lame.

I haven't noticed any recent increase for more local multiplayer on PC, but maybe thats because it hasn't hit my favorite genres yet. Maybe Black Ops 3 will start a trend of PC splitscreen? I really really hope it does.

Yeah thats another great feature that I really miss. It's hard to find good games I can play with my friends without them having to buy a copy

i have no clue but i think there is a diffren program on there screen
Don't you worry, consoles doesn't have split screen now either. Even console-exclusive FPS ditched it - both Halo and Killzone franchises. Time to love Call of Duty again as it still has 2-player split screen.

Try Resident Evil 6 or Revelations 2. Both great TPS games and both have native split screen. As for FPS I think Painkiller HD has 2 player split screen coop (only coop though, beta had 4 players in every mode including survival and versus but lazy devs cut it).
Also there is quake 3 source port with native split screen support (spearmint.pw), plays A LOT better than Dreamcast/PS2 versions (because it's basically PC ver with full visuals and framerates). New Call of Duty WILL have split screen on PC (it is confirmed miryad times by developers themselves). Ice's shifting man, we will get split screen eventually. The problem is - it is dying on consoles too. But... you know PC has MORE local multiplayer games now than any console ever had. Plus this is PC - open platform, where community can pump up awesome mods like FoxMod for UE3, or mod the L4D2 split screen back (also the mod is in workshop, single-click install) and yes they are both playing much much better than console versions

By the way... Why the F**K are you playing Mario Kart? Sonic Racing Transformed wipes the floor with it. And it is on PC with full 4 player split screen support.

Thanks for the info bro ^-^ I will look into some of those. As for why we play Mario Kart its because A) it's popular so it's easy to get people to play it with me, and B) I hadn't heard of Sonic Racing Transformed before, but I will check it out and see if I can get my friends to try it.

I really hope they make more split screen games! I have my steam rig hooked up to my 50" with four wireless 360 controllers, every time my friends come over, they go directly for the steam box to take turns on some games but we occassionally play some local co-op. I've bought a bunch of the lower priced ones and there is some fun stuff there!!

We love Hidden in Plain Sight and Goat Sim! Apart from that, we play a lot of emulated gabecube, playstation and n64

There's some Mod supported games that do it I heard left 4 dead 2 is like that Serious sam 3 ( A HIGHLY UNRATED GAME BETTER THAN CoD) has it built in.
