We're not going to your waste time attempting to explain or closely define the term immersive sim. You are here because you have your own opinion about immersive sims, and that is a good thing. What we want is to expand both the idea of what an immersive sim can be, and also promote the ideas inherent to immersive sims to a larger audience.

Thus this is an initiative to investigate and deconstruct the immersive sim game design philosophy; to move beyond limiting classifications such a single door code, gameplay mechanic, or genre. By embracing a broader approach, we seek to promote the underlying principles and mechanics that define immersive sims, and explore new gameplay possibilities with engaging and immersive ideas.

The first beta of our web tool is up right now!

If you'd like to help test out the web-based review tool, head over to GitHub[digaphobia.github.io]. We're not posting it to Reddit or Twitter yet, but we will in the coming days. If you have played a game recently and want to run it through, please post the results (use the buttons on the bottom of the page to easily copy them) in the forums so we can see how things are working. If you have friends who might try it out as well, please share!

Things to know:

The category names and elements are still in development. If you have suggestions, head over to the group's forum page and let us know!
This isn't supposed to be an immersive sim test, it is supposed to be used to compare games and find recommendations for new ones.
If you're bored, you can draw pictures with the radar chart!
This has only been tested on Chrome and Firefox, so if you're on a different browser and something isn't working, please tell us.
The code is hacked together and might have bugs. If you're a webdev please feel free to help us refine it.

Joined after seeing a reddit thread discussing the elusive definition to immersive sim. Hoping to see some recommended titles. Likewise, it's vital to preserve interest and knowledge in a genre in such a nebulous state.
