Rebellion reveals they're working on a remaster of Battlezone (1998)

Many of us who are fans of the PC games were excited and then disappointed with the Battlezone reboot at the hands of Rebellion. As other developers have before, such as with the PSP game, they were looking back to the original arcade game, taking it a step further to bring it to today with a neo-Tron look and a focus on VR technology[www.battlezone.com].

Many fans of the PC games were vocal in their disappointment, and today Rebellion revealed that they’re also working on a remaster of the 1998 Battlezone for PC[rebelliondevelopments.tumblr.com].

There are no substantive details yet, but with Gearbox's recent HOMEWORLD Remastered Collection success we hope Rebellion is planning a similar treatment.

For those modders among us, we're also hoping that the game will be just as moddable if not more so than it's predecessors. This also gives us a reason to put together some actual timetables for our projects and kick it into high gear. Up until now the active player base has been so dwindling that we always knew in the back of our minds our projects would only be played by a few. Now there is the possibility of a swell of players. Additionally, having existing and functional mods to port to the new platform could help entice new modders to join us to remaster our own creations, once the time comes.

They've got a lot of work to do, and so do we.

We can curate games on the store now!

Steam has made an update to the store that allows for groups to have store accessible curation lists. Think of these as similar to GOG's GOG-Mixes.

Come on over and suggest some games that we can recommend for their similarities to the Battlezone series.

He is just a modder.
Ever play bz2 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2 ?
GBD made his own patches .mods after Forgotten Enemies was released.

Kudos to him. But did he have Activisions, and Pandemics licensing permission to repackage their code and bump it off on the franchise licensed name?

Did you really purchase that expensive assed license necessary to run the franchise name BATTLEZONE ? Yu were always a good modder. But did you get the proper licensing? We never could. Acti wouldnt sell to us.
