For the last 2 months I have been elbow deep inside the bowels of the ARMA 3 editor trying to learn and decipher it, all in a effort to make Operation Neptune Spear work the way I envisioned. . . . . after an epic failure test, much sorcery, incantations, and multiple outright Scorch level rage fits I have learned quite a bit and I think have the mission (mostly) ready for prime time. . . So Monday May 25th at 9:30 PM Eastern time, I present to you: Operation Neptune Spear.

This mission is Single-player, Multi-player, AND Team Vs. Team Compatible. You take on the role of either Seal Team Six going into Abbottabad to Kill Osama Bin Laden, or as Bin Laden's Elite Guard trying to defend against the night time surprise attack.

Once I finally got Operation Neptune Spear working the way I wanted, I dusted off an old project that was near completion. So after we run Operation Neptune Spear Monday night through as many times as folks want to, (maybe switching sides if we have enough people, the mission only takes 15-30 mins).

Then I invite everyone to check out my new Team vs. Team Air to Air dog fighting mission:

In this mission there are 2 bases one US and one Russian. Each team has 6 pilots, and access to unique aircraft. Each team has a pool of 25 spawns and will fight over a contested air space, returning to a protected base to refuel and rearm. This can be played solo vs AI given there are three flights of 3 third faction AI combat fighter jets on patrol.

About a month ago Natierian from QRY approached me and asked if AJSOC could run Operation Neptune's Spear (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=22451) originaly created by Eliaz85. Sounded like fun so I downloaded it and did a run through the mission and took a look at it in the editor. It wasn't bad but, I felt like it needed more polish. The way it was it essentially was get in the choppers, fly to the compound (which was not even modeled after the real compound. Shoot Bin Laden, call a support chopper to ride home.

Some of the issues I had with the mission the way it was;

• The Opfor units were vanilla and really did not make sense given they were in opfor uniforms
  
• They only gave you 6 mins on the ground before Pakistani choppers came in and rektd your sh#t.
  
• If you died there was no respawn that was it
  
• Not enough resistance to make it interesting
  
• Not enough flavor to set the mood

So I opened the editor and with my meager skills started editing away, and after 50+ hrs and endless nights that I wish I was playing games I think I have something that is pretty decent. Here is what I did.
First I added some mod packs to make it more realistic.

After that I dug deep into the editor and really stretched my understanding of ARMA mission building spending countless hours watching editing tutorials to add some components.

• Added in voice over’s and transit music.
  
• Added in the ability to respawn by allowing the players to take and
  
• Place a respawn tent at the compound.
  
• Added in the ability to have players take on the roll of Opfor Middle east tribal units to make it PvP.
  
• After realizing that it is easy to mess up the extraction transport support added in a plan B extract.
  
• To make give it more of a game angle added in points for killing opfor AI (200 each) Killing Bin Laden (1000) and unarmed civies (-200), and players (500)

So what I ended up with I feel is a much better mission than the original with some PvP replay ability.

The plan is to run the mission tonight 04/01/15 at 10 PM EDT with a Zeus slot then it will be up on the server until the next mission (which will build off of this mission) is done. This will allow players that cannot make it to the event be able play through it at their leisure.

So this is the official launch of AJSOC Campaign 2.0 and missions will be released like this moving forward when they are ready. I hope I can encourage others to join in the creation of the campaign. Scorch and Pandemonium have already been working on the outline to about 5 missions that play perfectly off of what happened to the guys from Seal Team Six Operation Neptune's spear so stay tuned for more!

Future plans for this server will be to add an Opfor base for Opfor players to spawn and be able to reinforce Opfor AI missions.
