What happened to ACPR?

In short, the group owner Timsandtoms decided to close the group on January 9th 2025 for a variety of different reasons. Some included not having as much enthusiasm as he had for running this kind of community as he used to back in the 2010s, and the stress as well of running these kinds of communities which, over time, have shown developers and publishers will target coverages, sometimes pettily, but other times legally.

It was for these reasons and more Timsandtoms closed the group. Initially, no one knew what had happened. Some suspected Steam may have removed the group. In the time between the group being removed, and figuring out what actually happened, I remade the group, preserving the name, abbreviation and URL thinking I'd be able to give this back to Timsandtoms at a later date, and to preserve it so no trolls or people with malicious intents claimed it.

After speaking with Timsandtoms though, he didn't desire to own the handles anymore. Instead, Timsandtoms sent me over a bunch of files which were archives of most, if not, all the content that was previously on ACPR and gave me permission to use these on my own pro-consumer group: Sentinels of the Store.

As I don't really have a need for this group with me having my own, I decided to still preserve the name and URL to link people to where activities will be continuing in a "succession" to ACPR and people trying to find the old group would come across Sentinels instead where we will be working to hopefully integrate all of the previous archival materials ACPR had as well as adding onto it, while also continuing to hold developers and publishers to account and standing up for consumers across the board.
