Assassin's Creed Odyssey will not be canon to the rest of the franchise.

So the creative director of AC Odyssey did a reddit AMA, and when asked by a fan about there being a canon ending, he said that there will be a book released later which will tell the story of kassandra and tell the canon events of the game. The events that take place in the game are up to the player and will not effect any part of the AC universe out side of the game.

Well my problem is that everything we do in this game will not effect anyother AC games. If any of the characters die who cares? Do you like the protagonist? Well bad luck because they will never be seen again after this game.

I always play AC for the story and the world, and if they are telling me the story in this game is meaningless then I lose alot of interest in this game. It shows that this game is only made for the money, not for anything else.

I actually welcome this move. It means the game's developers and writers are free to create whatever they want without being shackled by events elsewhere. Usually, when a writer approaches a tie-in title, he is effectively told, "Okay, you can use all the characters and settings in the series, but you have to put everything back pretty much how you found it." It sounds to me like Ubi have cut the makers of Odyssey a lot of slack in this regard. I have high hopes for it!
