People think depression is sadness. People think depression is crying. People think depression is dressing in black. People are wrong. Depression is the constant feeling of numbness. Being numb to emotions, being numb to life. You wake up in the morning just to go back to bed again. Days aren't really day, they are just annoying obstacle that need to be faced. And how do u face them? Through drugs, through drinking, trough cutting. When you're depressed u grasp onto anything that can help u through the day. That's what depression is, not sadness or tears, it the overwhelming feeling of numbness and the desire for anything that can help u make it from one day to the next!-Amanda. A girl who has recently stopped cutting and now has friends to look after her who I asked to help explain what depression is. I couldn't have explained it better myself.
