Since the DLC release, I had been experiencing severe lag and data packet loss. My connection was always in the red, which was crippling my experience in game making it virtually unplayable. Other Hell League members had told me that I was rubberbanding across the map, hovering/running in place etc.

Then I started asking others in the Hell League community from varying clans and circles if they were also experiencing issues and there was an uncanny amount of members (50+) that I asked, who haven't been able to play DOOM properly since the aformentioned DLC release.

Since many of these Hell League group members are extremely talented FPS players, who have suddenly seen their scores drop in synchronization correlating to the date of the DLC release, the hard data pointed to a serious issue requiring attention.

I attempted multiple system resolutions, but to no avail, locating the root of the issue was unsuccessful. Then, I decided to attempt to open my inbound ports, which although was previously unnecessary prior to the DLC release, was worth a shot as I was running out of idea's.

Low and behold, once completed, the issue that was plaguing me since the DLC release was finally solved. So, if you've been having what appears to be network and/or connection issues since the DLC release, I highly recommend you perform the following.

To All [Hell League] Members!

We have a Multiplayer Weapon balance update this week and here are the details. Some of you may be happy with this news especially for those upset with the Heavy Assault Rifle being so weak and the Hellshot being so useless lol Details below! What do you think of these changes? There are no down times for this update so servers should be up and running even during the patch going live.

Later this week, we’ll be releasing a multiplayer weapon rebalance update to adjust the damage output of select weapons. We wanted to share these changes with you so you know what to look for when the update goes live. Since launch, we’ve been reviewing your feedback about the weapons in multiplayer and we’ll continue to do so with each update. We appreciate all of the feedback, fan-created surveys, and general discussion you’ve provided. We hope you’ll love the adjustments we’re making this week, and we’ll certainly continue to keep an eye out for your impressions about this update. (There will not be downtime for this update, but we will let you know once the changes are live.)

Here are the rebalance changes you can look for later this week:

Rocket Launcher---

The last pass on this made it very spam friendly and decreased skill requirements. Based on extensive feedback, we have reduced the ammo count and also reigned in the splash and detonate damage values to place more emphasis on control and skill when using the weapon.

Heavy Assault Rifle---

We have increased the damage, reduced the spread increase when zoomed, and removed the additional movement penalty when using the scope. We really like how it’s feeling now, and this should make the weapon more competitive in both the hip-fire and zoom modes.

Hellshot---

This weapon now has an increased fire rate and does more damage when hitting enemies in the body. We have also bumped up the burn damage for the weapon mod behavior. This should bring the Hell Shot in line with the other precision weapons in the game, and a gun you’ll be wanting to equip more often.

Shotguns---

The last pass on adjusting the switch timings for the shotguns fixed the issue with a loadout exploit but also removed dual shotguns as a viable loadout for close-range engagements. We got a lot of feedback here, and we’ve reduced the length of the switch timings so that this loadout is viable again.

Regen---

We adjusted the amount of health received per tick so that players have better survivability.

To All [Hell League] Members!

We are very happy to announce that we have finally hit the 400+ mile stone in members reached today! We appreciate everyone that has decided to join our group for the purpose of either finding new DOOM friends or to get invovolved in our Multiplayer Sessions with a mixed variety of game modes!

The future looks bright for the DOOM Multiplayer as the Dev's have recently told us at QuakeCon 2016 that iD is now working on including free-for-all deathmatch! They haven't decided yet if it will have a demon rune in it or not but we'll most likely get both modes with and without it.

They also plan a robust private match setting to the games. Around the same time of the release of free for all players will be able to set up their own match and invite players to those matches. The exact level of customization is still not yet detailed but stay tuned for more information as it comes out.

There will be a single player feature that is a kind of time or score attack type mode. More details on that as it comes. Lastly, SnapMap will still be getting upgrades - mainly better aggregation and presentation of the maps. I think he's talking about putting candles around the map and blood splats and corpses etc. if so that is what's been missing in this editor!

id Software has unveiled the first gameplay trailer of Quake: Champions and it's looking to be coming along quite nicely thus far. They appear to be building the hype quite early and aren't shying away from displaying what they've worked on, which usually points a confident development team, that stands behind and are proud of their work.
