As you will see in half-life 1 and 2 g-man has a good briefcase when in the end of half-life 2 g-man appears and says something. well when we start half-life 2 episode 1 g-man appears to offer us a job in the borealis project well at that very moment the vortigunts appear to get Alyx and Gordon out of the explosion and with their powers they make g-man can't get along to gordon and just at that moment we see that g-man does not have the briefcase because g-man traveled to the past when alyx vance was 19 to offer him the job so that eli vance does not die because eli in half-life 2 episode 2 dies and well alyx with the help of g-man kills the bug and eli does not die but g-man takes alyx away leaving his father to live in exchange for his job
