The Vigil's Tenets

The Pact of Brotherhood: In the days of yore, when shadows danced long upon the land and the Vigilants stood united, we swore an oath, bound in solemnity, that our own blades would never be raised against our brethren, lest we invoke the sacred Pact of Sacrifice.

The Pact of Duty: Where the steps we take may lead us to embrace deeds that others would deem dark. It is within the folds of these somber duties that we find our purpose, for the safeguarding of our cherished reality demands sacrifices, even those steeped in shadows

The Pact of Sacrifice: When the clarion call resounds, we shall not waver. Even as the light dwindles, we shall stand resolute, prepared to lay down our lives, from the first light of dawn till the final embers of twilight.

Pact of Wisdom: With the wisdom bequeathed unto us by our forebears, we guard closely the circle of trust, for in the pursuit of knowledge, there lies a perilous edge. Only those who heed the sacred Pacts shall be privy to this trove, for the path of forbidden knowledge is perilous and may lead the uninitiated to the brink of madness.

The Pact of Truth: Truths we bear, hidden in the shroud of cosmic mysteries. In the vast expanse, terrors yet lurk, but let these truths be held close, revealed not to the public eye. We, the keepers of truth, stand as a bulwark, shielding the realm from the harrowing revelations that lie beyond.

The Pact of Vigilance: Under the vigilant gaze of the Watchful God, we find our strength and guidance. In moments of doubt and need, we turn our eyes skyward, seeking solace and assurance in the deity that oversees our solemn charge.

[Transcript] Veridium Expedition 26.10.23

Another update on the Veridium Expedition, We've lost radio communications with our forward team during a sweep of the top floors.
A call has been raised to bring forth the Erebus Protocol to extract and reinforce the High Warden and Inquisitor Renatus.

The last transmission has been transcribed by High Seer Antioch for archiving.

[Sounds of crackling radio transmission and faint echoes of footsteps]

Renatus (05:02:17): Dante, I've reached the outer chambers. It's eerily quiet in here...

Dante (05:02:34): Understood, Renatus. I'm making my way through the central corridor. No signs of... (faint static)

Kaius (05:02:52): Keep your guard up, both of you. These texts are crucial. They must not fall into the wrong hands. (The distant hum of machinery can be heard)

Renatus (05:03:10): Agreed. The sanctity of these texts must be preserved. (Footsteps on stone can be heard)

[A sudden surge of static]

Dante (05:03:32): Blast it, I'm detecting something... unusual. Shadows shifting in the east wing.

Kaius (05:03:50): Hold your position, Dante. We can't afford to engage without knowing what we're up against.

Renatus (05:04:06): Dante, mark your position. We'll rendezvous and proceed together. Safety in numbers.

[Dante's breath quickens, footsteps growing more urgent]

Dante (05:04:27): Be advised, I'm detec— (sudden crashing sound)

[The radio crackles with static, then falls silent]

Renatus (05:04:35): Dante! Report, Dante! Kaius, we've lost contact with Dante. Something's above— (Abrupt silence)

[The sound of shuffling footsteps, then an eerie stillness]

Kaius (05:04:54): Vigilants, respond. What's happening? Renatus? Dante! (frantic urgency in his voice)

[The only sound is a faint, distant echo]

Word has it that High Vigilant Dante has recovered more of the Sacred Texts, Though among these records; our Elder and Relic archives may have been compromised. Unfortunately the only copy we he have has been partially destroyed and lists only a few past Elders.

Vigilant Renatus speaking in behalf of High Vigilant Dante of the Veridium Expedition. We're in the process of purifying the rest of the top floors, And as of this morning the lower floors including the basements have been secured and many of the Sacred Texts are in our possession.
