@Luxray - Instead of trying to trade cards 2:1, I'd try purchasing them for scrap. I would strive to purchase them for 1.5-2 scrap each (1 scrap if you're lucky). A good place to sell them is actually under the tf2 discussions. I have had success selling them for 3+ scrap there.

Does anyone have any tips on card trades? I do know the normal 1:2 trades and all of that but I'm not getting anything. I know it takes time but I'm looking for as many tips as possible. If you're either interested in doing this with me or feeling up to helping me then please add me.

@Mike Munroe - you added me privately to ask about this but I'll anwer publicly as I've just seen your comment here. I've personally never used idle farm servers but I believe its not an offence. I may be incorrect so please don't take my word for it but there is no reason for it to produce a VAC ban.

Hi Scout - you should have joined the chat to ask. The best method if you are in trade in a game is to do this:
1) Click on their profile picture
2) Right click on their profile
3) Copy URL
4) Open your web browser and visit rep.tf
5) Paste their URL into the rep.tf search bar
6) Double check the SteamREP link for unconfirmed reports
7) Double check Outpost to make sure they are fine

This is the best way to check for scammer tags.

Now, what about alt accounts or dodgy accounts?
1) Check their profile for a few key things
a) Do they have under 1000ish hours played? The lower the dodgier.
b) Do they have very few friends?
c) Do they only have free games?

2) Check their backpack
a) Do they have unusuals but nothing besides?
b) Is their backpack private?
c) Do the unusuals they own have strange histories? Check to make sure no previous owner had it scammed from them.

With your current bp I'd suggest you avoid hat banking until you have some more capital, just really focus on scrap banking for a little while first. There isn't a huge amount you have to work with currently and you are still at the stage where random drops will contribute to your wealth

@Girly - bp.tf isn't always accurate, if people undercut you its very hard ot get that figure. Have you tried advertising on OP, BP.TF and servers? You may need to be willing to sell for item overpay
@Steel - Sorry I don't follow your question. People ignore your offers because they aren't attractive enough for them. If you put a scrap or two lower when selling then perhaps the discount isn't inline with other market rates, bp.tf value is not great or necessarily up to date. If you are offering to random people then there is no reason they should want your items, you need to sell to players who want the items.

With regard to making profit, look for a popular niche at the time. It's been a new patch, perhaps people are preparing to start crafting for those low craft numbers? Perhaps people really love the new misc for spy?

My biggest piece of advice is don't be scared of low item flipping. My personal experience has shown that the times of greatest profit for myself have been from splitting up my big hats into smaller hats and aiming for less profit but on each of those hats. If you go from a 100 key hat to 10 10 key hats then achieving 10% profit is a lot less daunting. Anyone can get an extra key on a 10 key hat in sweets, 2-3 keys isn't particularly difficult.

Before your backpack can sustain a big hit avoid high end hyped items, going for a new all class unusual can pay off tremendously, it can also cost you hundreds and hundreds of keys. Go for established hats with a little wiggle room unless you are a bit of a gambler.

Avoid spycrabbing and avoid sweetstakes.
