there are multiple people trying to make the steam community less fun for PC gamers alike
by hacking
here's some steps to prevent your account from getting hacked

step 1. if anyone sends a link saying "GET FREE GAMES FOR FREE (insert malware site link here)" don't click it, it's a one-way ticket to computer infestation!

step 2. don't accept chat requests from people you don't know, check your friends list to make sure they're in the list, and a group you might have in common, if not, decline immediatly

step 3. alert your friends! when an account gets hacked and you share a friend on steam in common, warn them, message them, get in group chats and post announcements

step 4. contact valve, hacked steam accounts get terminated just because they get hacked, if you don't want the community to deterriorate into nothing, contact valve about these hackers

and step 5. if your friend's account gets hacked, then you should contact them on other sites such as gmail, hotmail, facebook, twitter, skype, etc. they will inform you when they're account is back, they'll give you the contact information BUT NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PASSWORDS! even if your friends are joking, never give out your password
