General Rules and Guidelines
Rules
  • Do not spam
  • Post in the correct Sub-Forum
  • No junk posts
  • No backseat moderating
  • No harassing or flaming

Policies

Strikes
Strikes are recorded by the Administration Board.
If a member is given three strikes, they will receive a ban.
All strikes are reset every month.

Spamming
Spam discussions, posts or comments will be deleted and the member responsible will be given a strike for each offense.

Incorrect Sub-Forum
When a member posts to the incorrect sub-forum, an officer, moderator or admin will typically just move or delete the post in question. A deletion will only occur if the post contains content that was previously mentioned on the discussion board.

Junk Posts
An officer, moderator or admin will delete any post they believe to be a genuine junk post.
This includes, but not limited to, discussions, posts and comments that are:
  • Reposts
  • Spam
  • Un-Related
  • Free Items

Such posts will have to be judged by multiple staff members before they are deleted. These staff will then decide whether the offense requires a strike towards the poster(s).

Backseat Moderating
This is the act of calling a member out whom you believe is breaking the rules and then enforcing the rules upon them. It is simply the act of doing a moderator's job when you are not a moderator. If one does catch someone committing an offense, there will be a forum called "reporting" where you can make a post to explain what it was that occurred. Do not call the member's name out, but rather, include in your report a link to the discussion that the member added this post to.

Harassment / Flaming / Baiting
Harrassment will either be a strike if it is a small issue, or an instant ban if it becomes a serious issue. The ban will be a majority vote among the Moderators and Officers.

Flaming is when you become emotional / lead a discussion into a heated frenzy. This will be an instant strike if witnessed by a staff member.

Baiting is the act of saying anything to peak a typically negative reaction out of a member(s), causing them to start flaming you. On a personal level, this is the most irritating thing to see in any forum post, thus it will be an instant ban.

About Staff and Becoming Staff
The staff will be very active, and will always deal with any offense we read about in a report or witness first-hand. We will check the reporting forum often and will act upon any post we believe to break the rules. However, the staff will often be a part of any discussions in the group, so we will normally view these incidents when they occur. Typically, staff will see a discussion that could potentially lead to breaking the rules and will stop this from happening before there will be any consequences.

Please note that if you want to be given moderating powers, you will want to start by following these rules and reporting any incidents straight to us without drawing attention to you or the offender. The better your overall reputation is, the higher your chances are of become a staff member.

Have Fun
These rules are not meant to generate fear for the officers, moderators and administrators. We are all very nice people and if any member sees or thinks that we are not, let me know via a comment on my profile, and I will resolve the issue with the staff member. I might also look further into the issue, if the staff member continues to act in this manner. If a moderator goes completely out of line, I will take their powers away.
I really do not see this becoming an issue, as I believe that all of us will get along very well and will have great discussions. If a few people will come along who do not want to conform with these rules, we will do our best to deal with them. If i did not see that there are people like this in the Terraria community, I would not have established this group.

If you have any ideas for the forums or see any grammatical errors in any official post, including this one, include your thoughts in a comment in the "Improvements" Discussion post.

Best wishes,

TheFactory
