For the past 7 years I have had a severe hearing loss. There has been several games on Steam I have purchased that do not have subtitles and are unplayable for me. This is due to the fact Valve has not bothered to mention on games store pages on Steam if a game does or does not have subtitles, and if it does in which language it has them.

I am starting this group as I want to take action, I don't think in this day and age that I'm asking much to know if I can play a game or not. It would not only be people with a hearing loss that benefit from this feature but those who speak other languages or struggle with peoples accents in games. Even a lot perfect hearing gamers I come across seem to like using subtitles on their games.

FACT: Approximately 12% of the U.S. population or 38 million Americans have a significant hearing loss.
....And that's just in the U.S, taking that small fraction of the world into question that's a LOT of people and I'm sure some of these are gamers.

Not only would knowing if subtitles are available and in what languages benefit people with a hearing loss / who speak another language but I also believe it would encourage people to purchase and play more games.

If someone knows from the start if something is suitable for them to play without them having to look around, ask questions, see if they have friends who own the game and ask them to launch it and check if it has subtitles etc then they'd be MUCH more likely to buy something.

It doesn't have to be much, just a small icon on the store page, even an [S] showing it has subtitles, then hover over it to see which languages are supported (just a small idea)

If DVD's bother to let us know if a DVD is subtitled or not then why not games?
