Yeah. According to Chinese user speculation (before Chinese forum was removed), this is possibly because of China wanting to promote their crappy WeGame.

The Chinese say, China blocked Google to promote Baidu, blocked YouTube to promote Youku, blocked Facebook to promote Weibo and now Steam is the next sacrifice.

Some also say its due to people criticizing the Chinese government openly.

As part of the efforts to combat Chinese spam, I compiled a list of most commonly-used Chinese words and phrases and what they mean, to make it easier to identify if a post is in violation:

I've been trying to reply to the Chinese topics that aren't the typical "I've been banned, unban me" (I do reply to the ones that at least put some effort into their posts). There is just so much of them, though.

It basically tells them their topics will not get any results on Steam, and directs them to PUBG's forum instead.

Which brings up an interesting point: to register for a forum account on PUBG's forums, users need to get past a ReCaptcha, which the Chinese users cannot, because Google is blocked in their country. I had to tell them to use VPN to get past it.

I currently have an account there and have been posting there the last few days, even though I don't even own the game, LOL
