Because 99% of it is either "I was wrongly banned, I didn't cheat" or "you deserved your ban, good riddance".

I think this is the first ime I can genuinely believe the OP's story. Lag spikes from 30ms to 900ms every 20 seconds....gets VAC'ed. The system could have easily eroneously detected the spike as a ping switch hack as a reult.

So I just came across a weird realization. Apparently the phrase "of CSGO one" gets filtered into hearts. (e.g. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/discussions/forum/10/1693785669857338580/#c1693785669857389694 "if you get bored of CSGO one day").

A quick google search suggests it may be due to the existence (or prior existence?) of a site called CSGO.one, which was implicated in a match-fixing scandal.

Turned into CSGOGEM and CSMoney. Either way those posts are going to be summarily locked from now on.

It prevents potential hijackers from basically being able to change the contact information among other indicators that would change how the original owner's profile identifies itself accrdingly to Steam's servers. For example, if a potential hijacker attempts to change the account's support contact information, that verification is sent to the old email address that the original owner already had in place to verify that they were the ones changing it rather than the hijacker.

Yeah they come every now and then & keep "bothering" untill the re-verification is performed. The complaining Ppl were either lazy or there were "other circumstances" why they could not confirm.

I never yet recieved one to re-verify my phone number though.

It's just a recertification for your account in general to assure that you're still using the same email address for contact information as before. I recently had to do mine.

You usually have to go to each profile's SteamRep page, in order for it to update.

Yeah you see loads of friends that are "Unknown Profile" - Once you click them, they show up and update.
