Bold Scumdertakers
We need our laughs every now and then. So here i was today checking a bunch of fake admin, while i stumbled upon this profile info, where a trade ban was turned into "proof" for a scamming middleman.

Feel free to add to this thread whenever something bold and/or hilarious comes up on forums, chat and/or profiles.
“oblidge”

These scammers can’t even spell right.

Most often they can spell. That's how they don't have to deal with Ppl who see through such obvious "mistakes" and only get the less educated Ppl on their hooks. While we're bussy writing a report, they're bussy stealing their next account from which to operate.

I've seen the "make sure I'm tradebanned!" spiel before. I think it's something like a stupid test.
I just think most if not all just can't spell correctly. Because I've been in quite a few voice chats with some and they are foreign and can't even talk English correctly.
The item economy was a mistake.

Sure it's that way will a lot of things. But you should not have something just because some people try (and do) to game the system, all you can do is try to have protections in place the best you can without them being too much, hope that people have common sense and to ask questions before going forth and blindly believing people at their word.

Like any large company or cocaine cartel, the large spammer groups on Steam, Facebook and &where-ever are organised in several departments as well.

Nostalgia. Scammer tricks 10 years ago + the old account system.

It pains me when Ppl are called "stupid" or something when they ask for help on the Steam employees and ex-volunteer- mods profiles. Even the "Best" get duped sometimes.
Like last month Google Search advertizing fake OBS (available here on Steam) and other software with malware. And now it's Linus Tech Tips who had his channel hijacked & deleted - and restored oncemore with quick help from Google/Youtube.

I'm 50/50 on it, there are definitely those that are stupid and I think it can be applied to people especially when it's a scam, or whatever it is that happened to you when it's old and there is a vast amount of information on it where you can find an answer in a few easy searches.

On the other hand, where it can be something like stealing cookies or a session to get your account information is a bit different and there are many ways even newer ways that even security experts have never seen or heard of before (there have been I've seen just recently that I was like "damn, that was nice" and would have never thought of doing it that way.)

Google/Youtube has really dropped the ball on their security and support in dealing with these vulnerabilities on their platform, especially when it comes to F2A where it's being bypassed easily. They need to add another layer of security to lock or make it harder to change any type of account information so these people find it not as profitable to take accounts, and if they don't do that have some support or bot search for the live streams that basically "all" have their videos hidden or deleted and have the same garbage crypto scams and locked comments and live chat.

I usually reserve my judgment based on intent. If someone gets scammed, due only to their own naivety, I feel for them...to an extent. If someone gets scammed, due to their own naivety and massively negligent safety and security practices, I feel slightly less for them. In fact, in some cases, it makes me a little angry, because those people further perpetrate these scams when their accounts get hijacked, and they give scammers a reason to keep coming back.

If someone gets scammed because they fall for a come-on for free cheats or promising some sort of free money, free steam cards, free games, and other crap like that, etc. then they were scammed because of their greed, and I feel almost nothing for those people.

Regardless of how I personally feel though, I have tried to help such people as I can, regardless of their circumstances. Help them and educate them, if not for their own sake, for the sake of other Steam users, so they don't continue to perpetrate these scams.

Aparently there's a new round of
Impersonator dupedm me, massively reported the wrong account, contact our fake support or you'll get banned
goin'round in chat. They so use last years script & screenshots as if there's no chatGPT:tabaha:
Has it really even died down? I have seen this continuously happen throughout the years with Steam chats, Steam forums posts in various areas regarding Discord, and even some other chat programs that are old, etc

The scripts hardly change because they work. You might see different words or even an old method being replaced back in every 3-5 years.
