Steam Game Recording doesn't record ingame audio
For some reason, it doesn't record in-game audio. When you set it to only record in game audio.

I have the same problem.

If you set it to record entire system audio it works, but we don't want our friends on discord in clips withouth their consent etc...

Please try to figure out how you are capturing the Audio Stream Valve, because it's not working.

I thought it was me using an ASIO sound-card but nope, tried it on my second computer same issue with a built in card.

for me the only game where the game's audio works is The Binding of Isaac Rebirth with all DLC :v
any other game's audio is just not present even when I set the recording to system audio (then it's only the system audio and not the game's)

I noticed the same problem, I noticed that recordings from CS2, Microsoft Flight Sim and other games that I have played have no audio, and while I had some issues with CS2 and R6 Siege thinking that my guitar cable for Rocksmith is my default mic (lmao), I couldn't find any such audio settings for Steam Game Recorder

Same, except the clip has audio, but when I export it there's no audio.
Choose record all the system sound or select the checkboxes manually, had same problem with Destiny 2, still didn't fixed

Today there was a Steam client update (not on a beta client) and I can hear game audio on the recording again
Kecel 4 Dec, 2024 @ 2:57pm

Confirmed issue with windows version 24h2. Not sure why people are still getting it on windows 11 version 23h2 though. Here is microsoft talking about the audio issues in games even:

recording in 1080p60 12Mbps (Game audio only)

  • Happens in every game
  • Audio works for exactly 5 minutes and then stutters into silence for the rest of the recorded session
  • If the recording goes on for longer than the max specified length, the first 5 minutes with audio get overwritten and the entire recording has no audio
  • I checked the Windows volume mixer and it was not the problem
  • When I select to record game audio and specified programs, the programs are recorded just fine but the game is muted
  • When I select to record all system audio, the audio becomes out of sync over time with stutters and gets really delayed in just a few minutes

Will keep trying different settings later, but I'm not very hopeful for a magic setting to make it work, Valve has to fix it. It worked fine when the feature was just in the beta, no idea what changed.

Yeah it used to work when in beta and now idk why it doesn't
24H2 update caused this issue for me. all system audio is working, in-game doesn't
Cosmic.Chaos 8 Dec, 2024 @ 2:22pm
Yup same. Swapping to all system audio is a bandaid fix for now.
