Still no Apple Silicon native build?
Is there somewhere specific for feedback on the Mac beta?

Failing that, some initial feedback:
  1. Still not Apple Silicon native? I was sure that must have been the reason for the mac version being later than all the others. ☹️
  2. Windows UI elements? (minimise, maximise, close, etc) 🙁
  3. Clicking on the main heading for each section ('Store', 'Library', 'Community', <username>) no longer seems to take me to the home page for that section. Instead I have to point to Store then Featured, or Library then home, etc. Surely this isn't the intended behaviour?
  4. When I first started the app (though I can't now seem to replicate it), Steam locked the macOS menubar. I couldn't click on anything, even the Apple menu, which usually remains accessible if an App menu becomes unresponsive. I had to switch to an alternate desktop to gat anything working.

Oh it’ll happen, the question is whether or not that’ll be before Apple remove support for Intel apps entirely from macOS.

I'm pining for it too. I don't see why ipcserver, Steam Helper and the Steam app itself couldn't be built for Apple Silicon.

+1, Apple’s done a lot of work to make this a simple process, and on my new computer Steam is the only thing that’s asking for Rosetta to be installed.

Please it's time for an Apple Silicon Native Client! ♥️

I sent a support ticket directly asking if someone is paying them not to build this for Apple Silicon (since it is an electron app it is very easy to do) and they say and I quote "We understand your point, but at this moment we cannot make any statements on future apple releases".

My bet is they want to be bought my Microsoft for Windows and their Linux console only. They deserve an anti-trust investigation.

Probably in the same place as the ARM64EC Windows build.
+1. Steam and Rekordbox are the only apps I have that are still non-native and it really impacts the user experience. I remember hearing that it's down to Apple dragging valve into their lawsuit against Epic, but that seems really petty and self-defeating to nerf your own app just out of spite due to a subpoena 3 years ago.

No proof that is the reason.

Especially when there's an established pattern of Valve making no effort on these things until they're absolutely forced to. As I've said before, the most likely time to expect it is when Apple remove Intel binary support from macOS which if it doesn't happen in the upcoming macOS 15, will almost defintely happen in 16.

And on the Windows side there probably won't be that push because Windows "12" and its successor will most likely retain x86 and x64 app compatibility, including on Arm64.

This is much needed.
