For games such as Q.U.B.E., F.E.A.R. and A.R.E.S. the steam backup tool will, by default, generate an invalid NTFS folder (specifically a folder that ends in a period.) These folders cannot be accessed or deleted by normal means, making such backups not only useless but incredibly troublesome.
