[Bug] Unable to list items on steam community market using Firefox (and the steam mobile app)
I already made a thread over in the general steam community forum, but I feel like this is a better place for the issue. While this is not a direct bug with the steam beta client - there is no place (that I have found) to be able to report issues with the web backend team responsible for the steam community / steam market.

ISSUE
Any Firefox web browser (AND the steam mobile app) is currently unable to list any item to the steam community market since ~19 Feb 2025 (~9 days at the time this post was created)

OS
Any Firefox web browser (AND the steam mobile app)

STEPS

- Login to Steam via a Firefox based browser (or the steam mobile app)
- Navigate to the steam community market
- Attempt to list an item from your inventory

RESULTS
the error "There was a problem listing your item. Refresh the page and try again." appears when trying to list an item (only on impacted browsers)

EXPECTED
The item should be listed to the steam community market

== ADDITIONAL DETAILS ==
Steam user TheOddsBodkins has done some great root cause analysis and found the problem stems from a missing capita "K" in the following javascript library call

Prototype.Browser.WebKit = true;

(The production version is missing a capital K)

See their post about it here - https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/0/599645206077305086/

You can workaround the issue by entering this javascript directly into the firefox browsers javascript console (or via userscript) to bypass the issue (alternatively you can use a chrome based browser [including the steam desktop app] to bypass the issue also) but in most cases you need to repeat this workaround each time you visit the steam market.

Hope enough details have been shared here so this issue can be fixed - us Firefox and steam mobile users have been suffering this issue for days now, my steam support ticket (Ticket: HT-8T5C-KN5T-KBX9) was not successful at escalating this to the appropriate team within Valve.

Just did a retest, and this issue is still ongoing.

~11 days this typo has been impacting the ability for all Firefox and Steam mobile client users to make market listings

This bug is related to the browser's User Agent, not the browser itself.

Using an extension, I changed my Firefox User Agent to a Chrome one, which "tricks" websites into thinking I'm accessing them through Chrome.

By doing this, I was able to list the item normally in the Steam Market using Firefox.

So this is something you can report to Steam support. The issue is with the User Agent. For some reason, the API that lists the items in the market is rejecting and/or returning an error when some part of the User Agent is missing and/or different.

Firefox User Agent (doesn't work):
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:135.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/135.0

Chrome User Agent (works):
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/132.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

As mentioned in my post (last paragraph) I have already tried raising this to steam support with no success (Ticket: HT-8T5C-KN5T-KBX9)

I think we are coming up on 2 weeks for this bug now, impacting all Firefox based web browsers (inc. the steam mobile app) - all because of a typo. Might reach out to a few more Valve employees tomorrow to try and get this issue addressed.

The inability to raise bugs directly with a dedicated steam community team is frustrating

~16 days now this bug has been in production, no-one on a Firefox based browser (including the steam mobile app) can list items to the Steam community market
Is it fixed? I was just able to list an item without using Tampermonkey.

Looks like the issue was resolved!

No way to know what got the message through, but I finally decided to put through a second steam support ticket 19 hours ago

Regardless, looks like the issue is fixed, I am now able to list an item from both a firefox browser AND the steam mobile app
