Guide button invokes the overlay even when it is disabled for specific controller.
When the guide button is disabled in per controller settings, its being hijacked anyway and its broken in how it works, first press opens the steam overlay, pressing again with intent to close, closes it but reopens it instantly.

I've got a similar issue. My PS5 Guide button opens and closes the overlay, even though the setting is disabled.

Edit: As of today, it's exactly the same as OP describes it.

They supposedly fixed this in the beta, i didn't check yet, had opted out since this thread.

Not fixed at all, still happens in the latest beta version.
