Controller stops responding with steam input
ISSUE
When using a dualsense with steam input my controller will stop sending any inputs after a few minutes of game play.

OS
Windows 11

STEPS
Use a dualsense controller.
Enable steam input for a game I want to play
Play that game for a least a few minutes.

RESULTS
The controller and binding work as expected, but after a few minutes the controller will stop sending any inputs to the game. Sometimes the game seems like it is still detecting that a controller is connected but I get no response from any of the buttons.

EXPECTED
The controller and binding to work for the duration of my playtime.

Additional info:
This has been an issue for about a year on the beta client for me.
I have used different usb cables and ports.

If you go to settings->controller->test inputs while in that state do the input work in that visualization?
It does not
I just checked with another controller and it had the same behavior. It was an 8bitdo sn30 pro+ in switch mode.

I found some old posts about the idle gamepad shutdown timeout setting and I think setting that to never has fixed the problem. I'll need to try it for longer but so far so good.
Just to confirm, the controller is wired in this case?
Yes but I did also experience this problem when I tried wireless one time.
Well it worked yesterday in forza horizon 5 after I changed the setting but it just disconnected again in rocket league.

So after various changes in my setup I have figured out the both the cable I was using and the controller usb-c port were loose, and it took changing both to figure out the problem. With that said when I had a disconnect while using steam input it would take much longer for the controller to start working again compared to if I used it directly with rocket league. The only reason I figured out it was both causing it is because the connection drops started to noticeably affect my inputs in rocket league even though the controller and rocket league showed no signs of disconnects. When it was more mild it only caused problems while using steam input.
