Friend list setting (append nicknames to friends names) not sticking

To start off this is in the regular client, but I could not find the appropriate support page so I thought I'd put it here.

In the friends list settings I have had to turn the option on to append nicknames to friends names multiple times in the past couple of months, this is the only setting I've had to do this too, and its getting annoying. So if it gets fixed I will be grateful.

This has been happening since yesterday for me. I'm not on the beta either, I just did a search for "append nicknames" and found this thread. I don't understand why it's defaulting back to off. When I logged back in this morning I had to toggle it back on again.

Still getting this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem in 2021, super annoying as well as it constantly changing my away status to online!

I've had this issue for years as well. The "Friends & Chat -> Append nicknames to friends' names" setting keeps disabling itself. I want it to stay enabled.

I'm having the same issue - "Append nicknames to friends' names" option is being reset in the Steam client settings. This bug only started occurring a few weeks ago, and as others have mentioned, seems to propagate before/during/after weekly Tues maintenance window.

I'm getting this problem still. Only been 4 years it seems for this to be happening to people. Only started for me this year though.

Chiming in to add I have been experiencing the same problem. Reported it through steam help today and got canned response. Most recently happened after weekly maintenance and the steam app was never shut down.

Just some feedback on this, I haven't been experiencing this since the last time I posted back in 2023. So it might be something specific to the configuration I had setup back then.
