Anyone have settings they think work well for Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force
Like, let's assume I've only installed Special K (global) and I haven't tweaked a single thing. It defaults to Flipmode off. But turning that on just introduces screen tear, notwithstanding some attempts at tweaking the three numbers in an attempt to get rid of that.

FFFADF by default has a lot of stuttering. It's not the gargantuan problem it is in Tales of Vesperia—it seems to be caused by the game's memory manager. Every time something loads or changes in VRAM, which is most of the time, the framerate chugs between 30 and 60fps for a few moments. I have a suspicion Special K can help with this, but its default settings don't seem to do anything for the game.

And I may as well ask if anyone has figured out whether it's possible to enable mipmaps for this game. Unlike with ToV, the shimmer is actually bad enough that I'd be willing to put up with the occasional pause that occurs with that option enabled. And maybe it would help with the framerate as well.

Setting "Presented Interval" to 1 did the trick for me. be sure to play borderless in game's settings.

Setting it to 1 was all it took. The game is now a flawless 60fps. I'm overjoyed.

(Now if only the game itself didn't have a memory leak that makes it a very good idea to restart the game every 30-60 minutes.)

If there's one thing Special K could really use, it's a "recommended settings" feature, based on the detected game. It defaults with Flipmode off, and then even if it's on, settings that give a usable result depend on the game. But the main observation here is that merely having the mod running isn't getting the job done, and anything that can ease that missing component would only be an improvement.

I'm just leaning on the facts I have to deal with.

The basic point is that we have a scenario where two different people—myself and the fellow above who provided the tweak that worked for him—dealing with the same game, and determining that the same settings gave the specific, idealized result that literally anyone would absolutely want: a solid 60fps, which the game is otherwise inherently incapable of providing. Like it or not, a learning curve and the necessity of personal fiddling with settings is a barrier to adoption. Special K should be used by default with any of the games it supports. Removing barriers would help.

A perhaps obvious answer might be to accumulate personal tweaks that users settle upon (or personally submit) on a per-game basis, and then, when Special K sees a newly-recognized game launched, ask the user if they wish to apply the community's recommended settings for said game, with a YMMV caveat.
