I've played with Sionar and crew for over a year now, and we were all getting frustrated with how easy it was for Libs to win. Games were getting boring. When you have a solid table of good liberal players, it's hard for them to lose. At least that was our experience. It got rarer and rarer for fascists to win, as the liberals were strong enough to play smart and keep them out of the game.
Now I know that won't be the case with many people. Whenever I tell this to people they say how we just didn't have strong enough fascist players. But we often had some of the best fascist players in the game as well. But solid liberal play always shut them down. It simply got boring as fuck. But we all still wanted to play.
So I like this. It really shakes things up and makes it a more balanced experience.
The extension includes a whole bunch of new tactics. Fascists can play obvious. Hitlers can shoot themselves. Liberals are able to see all fascist with a single card... I really enjoy seeing all those possibilities.
At 8p and in 10p-games it perfectly supports that everyone has another impact to the game than just their vote. Especially with the 1-behind-3-ahead metha there were many games where it just took out all the fascists, step by step.
I neither think the new cards take away the social deduction aspect. You still have to figure out who is trustworthy and who not before it is too late for you. Probably it reduced that time and increased the risk for liberals.
In my eyes that extension saved the game for me. I really enjoy it.
