The 12th Illinois Volonteer Infantry Regiment was one of many famous Civil War infantry regiments. Along the way they earned the nick name "1st Scotch Regiment". I chose Illinois because I am obviously from Illinois. Illinois provided a major ammount of soldiers for the Union, mainly for the Western Theater. This is a group to discuss the topics of the ACW as well as thinking of other scenarios. You can also challenge other members to the ACW mod for ETW as well as join a regiment in War of Rights if it is possible for when it does come out. (Hopefully soon) I hope to see you around, and thank you for joining!

Earlier today Gen. McClellan and Gen. Grant were victorious at Antietam. Due to McClellan letting the Confederate forces go, he has been discharged by President Lincoln himself.

After the battle, McClellan saw the Confederates running, but did not engage. Instead he stayed back and allowed them to retreat. This caused President Lincoln distress, as he needed this war to end here. Shortly after, Union troops were led to deal with Lee's army.

Union victory at Antietam

General McClellan, along with General Grant left victors of the horrifying battle that took place today. The Union armies were up against a massive Confederate force, led by General Lee, and "Stonewall" Jackson, trying to break their way through the infantry located at the bridge. Due to the Union soldiers' bravery, valor, and sacrifice, they were able to come out on top. The Union troops now sit comfortably in their tents, still raw from the current events.

"While the loss of troops is still unknown as of right now, as I look at the battlefield, I am taken aback by the ammount of corpses both Union and Confederate." Said a bystander. We then asked if he thought the fruits of victory that were claimed here today is worth the ammount of bloodshed. This was his response, "Absolutely not. These are men who had families back home. People that counted on them. Looking at the ammount of bodies, I can say with certainty that there will be tens of thousands of families who will draw their curtains closed tonight to grieve over the loss of their beloved sons, fathers, husbands, and brothers."
