As Ms. Cornish always says -
Like the bathroom, if you build it, they will come.

Build Build Build.
Build guns, and ammo, and armor.

Leave weapons stashes around the islands, and a few on the mainland. (Preferrably next to a sleeping bag!)

The only thing left to do on the tower is finish the walls and traps around it, then upgrade the beast to metal.
