Things changed in the middle east since last wars. A long time Abbas and Arafath where the leaders or palestina, but Israel wasnt even interessed in serious negotiations (and they where both against the military way). If this way didnt succed and so its a natural conclusion that people say we need something new. An Hamas offerd an opption of military opposition, witch isnt real terorism, but separatism. These rockes they shoot arnt particullary to kill isreali, but to show the world theyr misery. Atm the only Iran and terror cells (and i dont count Hamas to them) are against the existance of israel.
And it isnt shareing the land now, its giving back the land they took. Israel and Palestina have to exist on the same teritories, and the only way to keep peace for a long time is to have frontiers, witch allow to exist both nations and dont let anyone feel cheated. These frontiers are the frontiers of 1949 (acctually even 1947, but thats utopia). Then isreal and palestina became independ.
Soulless 17 okt, 2011 @ 11:21
It would be difficult for the Palestinians and Israel to share the land that Israel now has. The people who lead the Palestinians in the gaza strip will not accept Israel as a country. They also believe they should be wiped off the face of the earth. From the group that is leading the Palestinians we now have Hamas, Al Qaida, and all the other little sects of Islamic Terrorism. The only way the Palestinians will have their own land and by keeping what they have now not by sharing the land that Israel has. Israel also fought those nations that you said they have good relationships with. It's important that there be peace in that area but peace will be hard to come by considering who the people of Palestine have voted to lead them.
Ulrich 17 okt, 2011 @ 7:15
i agree with the thing you mentioned, but they arent excludeing my ideas. Acctually you didnt mention that GB gave jewish people the option to settle down there (as you probably know they were in diaspora and antisemitsm was around in europe). However, if you want progress and peace you need to change something (terrorism is a act of desperation, a act of not seeing any alternative, a act to show the word the misery). Or explain me how it is possible that two people in the same area and with similar last 50 year have so huge live standart diifferenes.....
Generic Sidekick 16 okt, 2011 @ 17:49
Here's what happened. When Israel was under British control the British made two separate promises, one to the Jewish people in Israel, and one to the Palestinian people in Israel, promising each of them separately that they would eventually be given independence, as well as the land that Israel currently occupies.
Ulrich 16 okt, 2011 @ 14:34
The basic idea of isreal was to give the jewish people theyr own nation(after the 2nd WW). The trouble is there lived new peoples now ( occupied by european acctually), So to found the Isreal you had to take land there. In my eves they should share the terrain fairly (Isreal and Palestina has the right to exist). In 1949 the made frontiers, witch allowed to live both peoples. Since than Israel systematicly stole the land from Palestinas. This isnt a military qestion, israel has pretty good relationships with muslim countries (Egipt, emirates etc.), they have probably the best army and secret service in middle east and even nuclear weapons as live policy. This is a peoples rights question, a question of real politics and idealsm.
Soulless 12 okt, 2011 @ 17:18
THe Frontiers of 1949? are you talking about the lines of Isreal during this time period. If so that would make it even more difficult for them to defend themselves. They are also already minimizing the forces in the area.
Ulrich 12 okt, 2011 @ 15:06
The Islamist have pretty good things to point at in the past (Israel-Palestina question, Dictators (hopefully no more) etc.), because they USA messed up these things. The USA needs to give clear promises; the should minimalize the forces there in future, support the idea of getting back the frontiers of 1949 (what they recently messed up completly). However - the first step is made...
Soulless 12 okt, 2011 @ 14:32
I concede to your points of trying to get the common people on your side (which is the new strategy) and I agree Ideolgoy can't be beaten with force. What you need is for people to stand up and let it be known that the ideology of the terrorists is not the same as all the rest of islamist community. Until that happens Countries around the world will have to deal with these people. I believe things are going in the right direction now, and I hope it stays that way.
Ulrich 12 okt, 2011 @ 13:46
I agree, someone needs to do something. But you cant fight a idiology with guns, It never worked (comunism, religions (->ireland)). In my eyes the better way is to fallow an other strategy; you should try to drag the common people on your side (by showing them your point of view, open ecconomic options for them etc.). The exctremist will stay true, but if the civilist are at your side the wont support theyr guerilla tactics. On the otherhand you shold collec informations by secret service and take out certain cells.
They are supporting them now correct. But a few years ago it locked completly different. Personally i think the intervention wasnt just to get democracy down there. I think they wanted as well to get a new stabile situation down there to get (as always in the middle east) oil. I remember as Gadafi lost the 1st thing they talked about where the oil concessions. But at least yes, hopefully its going partly in the right direction.
PS:I d answer earlier, but i was on holidays
Soulless 27 sep, 2011 @ 23:12
@ Sun Tzu Your correct on your points of America supporting Bin Laden and the Mujahiden when Russia invaded Afghanistan and then got the tables flipped on us. But IF it were not for America fighting the fights that other nations won't Then the progress made to this point would never have been made. Currently Usa is backing up rebels throughout the middle east who wish to overthrow governments previously thought to be puppets for America. God Bless America and Her Allies. I hope the good fight continues, just as people make mistakes so do Countries and America is working to correct the one they made so many years ago.

Ulrich 14 sep, 2011 @ 10:08
The people i mainly ment r the civilists with moderate oppinions living there. The didnt have a shit to do with these extremists. But tousands of them lost theyr lifes or livelyhood. A averenge guys live there got probably much worse. On the other hand there is naturally a bigger picture. The USA supported dictators just to get Oil. And as wont_shoot said they they r a the reason taliban exists. And what s acctually the legitimaton of the US-presence in the middle east? Terrorism is a part of a a big process. It somekind of clash of cultures (Western vs. Islam). To stopp this the USA has to change as well. Since 9/11 they kept doing the same way. The picture of the good (USA) and bad guys (Muslims) doesnt work and did NEVER work in history. Why didnt they support democratic movements, why didnt they finally support a fair soulution of the Palestina conflict etc.?
_1 13 sep, 2011 @ 19:59
sun tzu has a very valid point. many, many innocent people in those countries die or are opressed because of the fuck-ups america made in the '80s..... you could say that america indirectly created the taliban (through support of the muhajideen.)

10 years ago on this day, the lives of 3000 Americans were lost. Join with me in saying "They may be gone, but never will they be forgotten". There loss united a nation and showed the world that evil still exists, but for every shread of evil there is a room full of good. Many tears rolled from the eyes of many that day, and now 10 years on we show that we still have a heart by remembering there loss and taking comfort in one another. 10 years ago God carried the souls of our loved ones to the kingdom of heaven, leaving us with the memories of the time we had with them, they were mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and hero's, but now, there angels by the grace of God.
