Police: Man dies in car accident Sunday

COCOLAMUS - A Thompsontown man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Juniata County.

Police said Randall Jeremy Roberts, 20, of Mifflin, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in went off the roadway, rolled over and struck a tree. Police said Joshua Steven Ranck, 20, of Thompsontown, was driving south on state Route 2013 near Sellenberger Road in Cocolamus when his vehicle failed to negotiate a left curve in the road and Ranck lost control of it.

Police said the vehicle skidded off the roadway before rolling and ejecting Roberts, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle. Police said the vehicle then struck a tree.

Ranck sustained major injuries and a second passenger, John Patrick Roberts, 21, of Mifflin, sustained severe injuries.

Police said the crash was DUI-related and that the incident is still under investigation. Police were assisted by Fayette Fire and Ambulance, Thompsontown Ambulance, Mifflintown Fire Company and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
