I'm not sure how two hats would work, but I do also like the idea of being able to have more miscs in exchange for not having a hat or something like you said in the first one. I just think the equip system is outdated for what tf2 has become. It's designed for an action game where you equip different weapons in a few different slots when tf2 has hundreds upon hundreds of hats and miscs now. I think the main problem Vavle might have with expanding how much we can wear is making the characters unrecoginzable from their original design (which is already out the window anyways) and that if you have too many colors it becomes harder to distinguish what team the person is on.

As Land Mantis (I think that's who), something like what he suggested would be great. Valve could just do one of these:

1. Change all of the current slots (Hat, Misc, Misc, and Action) into all "Cosmetic" slots, where you could choose any combination of actions, miscs, and hats (as long as they don't interefere because of equip regions). Someone could have like 4 miscs, 2 miscs and 2 actions, 2 hats and 2 actions, etc.

2. Add an extra slot for each type of cosmetic slot (2 hat, 4 misc, and 2 action).

3. Do exactly what Land Mantis said, have one slot for each equip region, so you could have 1 back, 1 beard, 1 hat, 1 shoes, etc. etc.

See, I always think the hat slot should stay hat slot honestly. One hat is always fine. The Action slot for a 3rd Misc is interesting though.
