Starting a group for carrion crown
ok i have book 1 done and finished for carrion crown and working on the next one and im ready to start rolling players through the campaign. To give a heads up the campaign will be placed in the country of Ustaluv and basically u will be encountering the classical horror tropes of npcs.

The game is designed to be half roleplaying and half dungeon diving. So to survive u will not only need soemthing that can stand up to creatures BUT also to survive u will need to be able to roleplay outside of combat.

No Evil or CN characters. 20 point buy system. level 1 character. No summoners, gunslingers, or cavaliers. 150g starting gold to buy equipment. No 3rd party material. Core or featured races only.
i have the standard edition so everyone will need standard or up to play.

The game times unfortauntly look like they will be tuesday and wednesday mornings or early afternoons EST.

Post if interested

EDIT-for optional reading i recommend the Carrion Crown Players guide which is a free pdf on the paizo website and also (warning may include minor spoilers but very minor and i request to kep player knowledge away from character knowledge) the Rule of Fear campaign settings. both especially the rule of fear have ALOT of info to help get immersed and know about said country and cultures and history.

I would like to know what style of character people are having. As i have a few ideas to use as characters.
I would like to avoid stepping on peoples toes so to speak.
My first choices are Potion Crafting Utility Alchemist, Or Abjuration Scrollmaster Wizard.
My second choices are Sneaky Crossbow Alchemist or Buff Cleric.
As for races, Ill try for Goblin, Kobold or Elf. One of those 3.

I am planning on bringing a Dhampir Inquisitor, kind of sterotypical angry at the undead for what they have done to him. Although he tries to hide the fact that he is Dhampir since he is ashamed of what he has become.

i use point buy for a couple of reasons. one so that players can be on equal footing with stats, u dont hve to worry about honesty in did this person really roll these stats out or did they reroll certain ones again etc, and last and equally important as the first reason is to prevet soemone from rolling extremely low and being thus an ineffective character compared to everyone else because they olled nothing but 5s and 7s (has happened to me lol). just easier and less messy going by a point buy system, specially when programs like pcgen and herolab calculate the points for u with the point buy. You dont have to worry about getting math right in do i have 3 points to raise my agility at 15 to 16 etc etc.

Yeah, i used both stat systems and i feel pointbuy works best.
I have a a few ideas for characters, but until i know of more player characters and their roles, ill probably hold off on creating a full character.
That and i would like a versatile party and not just a group of undead hunters.
Even though it fits the theme, its kinda boring for me with 3-4 anti-undead people.
Ill go for a non-channeling cleric if i pick cleric, just to mix things up.

More than likely I'll play some sort of alchemist or ninja if thats ok. Are guns/gunslingers allowed? I often dual class purely for concpet.

I am still going to play an Inquisitor, but I am reconsidering the Dhampir angle I might go with some other race, but it will still be within your guidleines. Tuesday at around 1100 sounds great by the way, looking forward to it.
Mr Yaotubo 19 Jul, 2014 @ 6:03pm
Ah well, if no one picks cleric or palladin i might go that. I have a few ideas to work with. Its needed in modules where debuffs exists i think.
RedneckDevil 19 Jul, 2014 @ 8:24pm
im sorry yeah i dont allow gunslingers either sorry :( alchemist or ninja is fine.
another race sounds fine or the dhampir itself is totally fine, ur choice.
clerics and paladins are pretty powerful. paladins ive found are extremely powerful and ill go ahead and say that i dont try to make paladins fall. clerics i will admit are more adaptable and are pretty handy and powerful in their own right lol
