The 2nd Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" was an association of the Bavarian Army .It was originally built in 1682 under the name Degenfeld on foot under Elector Max Emanuel for the Kurbayerische Armee .
From this developed in the 19th century a regiment of the Bavarian army under the name 2nd Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" .
In his coat of arms he bore the initials of the founder Maximilian, Emanuel, Elector. During the Palatinate-Bavarian period from 1778,
the regiment was included in the newly created master list as the 2nd Line Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" .
The following numberings were introduced later on in the system: 1682/7, Infantry regiment no. 2.
