I regret to inform fellow members of the no scam bird society that Otis passed away today.

Last week I noticed a large red lump under his wing and took him to the vet the next day after work.

The vet advised me that it was a type of cyst that birds like cockatiels can get.

Our best option was to remove it before it enlarged, as it would effect his quality of life or possibly pick the cyst and then die from blood loss.

Sadly - while the procedure was going well - Otis stopped breathing, possibly from the anesthetic.

While everything was done to try to revive him, he just didn't make it.

I had him since he was 8 weeks old... cut short at the age of 2.

He was my favourite pet, I'll miss having him sit on my shoulder... attacking my jacket zipper.

Rest in peace... no scam bird :(
