Let's be serious, Steam is amazing. but can you not run games that well anymore? I can help! I can walk you through speeding up your computer and getting rid of that nasty installed crap you didn't mean to install. I will be doing this soon. comment if you want me to speed up you computer!

opting into the beta worked for me. had to change back to directx8 and redo all my graphics settings, so make sure to peek at that before you play.

Fred I can't speak for others, but the opt into beta on steam settings worked for me. As of right now it appears you may have found the problem. Gonna place the info under possible fix methods in case people fail to notice your comment.

Go into Steam settings, and under account, press the beta bar and select "Opt into beta".
Something like that.
