Lucas Arts just announced the special edition remake of Monkey Island 2 slated for iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer!


The special edition includes new high-def graphics, a re-mastered musical score, full voiceover, and an in-depth hint system.

"The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition really resonated with gamers young and old thanks to its classic storyline and updated gameplay features," said LucasArts' President Darrell Rodriguez. "We're adding even more great new features in this sequel and can't wait for classic Monkey Island fans and newcomers alike to experience perhaps the most beloved installment in the franchise ever."

LucasArts also announced today that The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will soon be available for digital download on the PS3 via the PlayStation Network, for the Mac from Aspyr's www.GameAgent.com, and for the PC via the Telltale Games online store at www.TelltaleGames.com and Instant Action's www.InstantAction.com

Good news to all of you who waited for Launch of the Screaming Narwhal to come out on WiiWare! Telltale Games has announced that Tales of Monkey Island episode 1 will be avilable on WiiWare Monday 27th.

Many people have voiced concern over the return to the 3D realm in Tales of Monkey Island, after fans being less than satisfied with the series original step into 3D. But it now appears that this will actually be Monkey Island 6! What could this mean?


Dave Grossman, the Designer of Tales of Monkey Island has revealed that the game is actually the 6th installment of the Monkey Island franchice, with the real Monkey Island 5 being "hopefully" created by LucasArts in the future!

Could this mean that Lucas Arts is already working on Monkey Island 5? And if not - this certainly means that if Tales of Monkey Island sells well enough, there's going to be a Monkey Island 5 - a REAL sequel to Monkey Island, and hopefully in 2D.

The living dream has some true! Telltale Games has just announced that they will be releasing "Tales of Monkey Island" in a 5 Episode format starting from July 7th, on both the PC and WiiWare!

At the same time, it's been announced that LucasArts is developing in-house the remake of the first Monkey Island game, "The Secret of Monkey Island" - Special Edition, which will be an enhanced remake of the original game, with full voiceover from our beloved Dominic Armato. The Secret of Monkey Island - Special Edition will be released on both PC and Xbox Live Arcade this year.

Both a mysteriously disappearing German rating and sources close to Adventure Gamers seem to indicate that a special edition of The Secret of Monkey Island is on its way to the Xbox 360.

GamerBytes, who managed to snag a picture of the German listing before it was removed from the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle website. The listing was for The Secret Of Monkey Island - Special Edition, with the system listed as the Xbox 360 and the publisher Activision Blizzard Deutschland GmbH, the European publishing arm for LucasArts.

Adventure game website Adventure Gamers claims that independent sources have already confirmed the existence of the project to them, with a planned revelation during E3 2009 this week.
