I remember the scene where the guy gets guillotined was pretty devastating for me to watch as a child. Perhaps the cage scene is from a different might and magic.

Thу scene you describe was from Heroes of Might and Magic II, not III. That game has never been released again, not to mention HD versions. However, if you're still interested, I can find it because I still own the second part of the game.

Me too.
It was so huge shock so I was scared to play the game at all. This scene created a sick addiction to guillotines for me. I've even managed to extract the scene from the game and watch it again and again.
By the way, HD version has better version of this scene.

Hmmmm me (14) remember my dad introducing this game to me. i started on the 2cd one which will always be my fav homm i ever played because of nastolgia. the guillitine scene and the cage scene was never scary to me. i never was scared of it, i just ignored it but i guess i'm just that kind of person

hmm hom&m's game over screen is your heading being decapitated from your body...i think your mistaking it from two where you hang in a cage dead (shows your bones)....its not the scene thats scary but the sound of the cage moving back and forth creeking as a fire goes in the backround...good times
