霧の湖 - Misty Lake

妖怪の山の麓、普段は人が寄りつかない場所に大きな湖がある。
この湖の辺りは昼間になると霧で包まれており、視界は悪い。
湖には妖精や妖怪が集まりやすく、特に夏は水場を求めて多くの妖怪が集まる。
何故昼間だけ霧が出やすいのかはよく判っていない。
視界不良の為、湖はとてつもなく大きく見えるが、実はそんなに大きくないと思われる。
一周歩いて回っても半刻も掛からない。


またこの湖は、新月の夜に怪物級の大型魚がごく稀に釣れる事でも有名である。
その怪物魚を釣る事を夢見て多くの太公望達が釣りに出掛けるのである
湖に流れ込む川は、妖怪の山から流れてくる。
ごく稀に河童が流れてくる事もあると言う。
それを見ると心が和む。

Towards the bottom of the Youkai Mountain, there exists a lake which no humans would dare go near to. The visibility of the lake is especially poor when it's noon as because of the mysterious mist that shrouds it during that very point of time. A great number of faries and youkai would gather around the lake in search for a source of water, especially during the heat of summer. But nevertheless, it's never known nor understood of the reason behind the mist during noon. As because the visibility of the lake is extremely poor, the lake seems larger than it's supposed to be. The truth is, it isn't as big as it seems. If you would take your time to take a stroll around it, it wouldn't take more than an hour to cover the full length of the lake itself.

As because the lake is also famous for the giant monster fish that could be fished out on rare occasions during the nights where the moon is new, many anglers had set out to get themselves a winning catch of that size. The main source of the water within the lake flows from the Youkai Mountain and it's said that even Kappas would drift into the lake, though rarely seen. Such a sight would truely catch one's heart.
