The Interplanetary Enhanced Edition is finally here! New tech trees, brand new weapons, beautiful visuals, improved music, more intuitive controls, and so much more! This means new builds, new strategies, and new players!

In other news, this group page is a little dusty and old. I will be seeking out some admins to help me out with updating our group page, hosting events, and scheduling games. If you are at all interested always feel free to message me, leave a comment, or post in the forums, and we can see if you're a fit for the job!

Interplanetary as we know it is going to change soon. So let's get some games in before the Enhanced Edition hits!

I am arranging a match for Saturday, August 5th at 8PM Pacific Time. (That is 4AM BST)

I know a lot of us are from crazy different time zones, and I know scheduling has always been difficult for us in the past. So I'm very willing to move the date and time around so the majority of you guys will be able to play. Please be sure to comment or post in our forums, so we know you are interested!

Of course, I always, always suggest matchmaking in our forums. Many people in this group have contacted me since the Enhanced Edition was announced, and I think it's time to play a few buggy matches to bid this awkward but charming version adieu.

As you may or may have not heard, Interplanetary is getting a complete overhaul. The game devs have partnered with Team17 and received a lot of help from Advanced Interactive Gaming to produce the game we have always known Interplanetary can be.

I know that many of us have lost a lot of faith in the future of Interplanetary, but these new developments seem very exciting! Team17 is a reputable game developer, and AIG is is a well-known, successful management team. I am eager to continue hearing about the further development of the game, and I have hope for rejuvinating our beloved little community that came together around a game with so much potential.

Here are some key points I picked up from the official announcement:

-Interplanetary Deluxe Edition will either come out as a massive update, or will appear in your library as a new game. Either way, it will be completely free for those who already have purchased Interplanetary.

-NETWORK FIXES. The game had to be rebuillt from the ground up to provide the network stability we need to enjoy their game. This includes RECONNECTING if you are disconnected from a game. It also includes AI for multiplayer games.

-Rebalance. As our community grew, and dwindled, there were always certain builds that were able to completely dominate nearly all other strategies. One particular build has been OP for the last year and a half. This caused the game to stagnate for the most of us, and sucked the joy out of the competition. I am excited to hear the devs are aware of this problem, and are taking actions to correct it.

-Elliptic orbits! I know many of us had been asking for this, and it seems like they heard us!

For now, they indicate the Deluxe Edition will be out this summer, and we will keep our fingers crossed! They have implemented a patch to the current Interplanetary, which is out now. It includes balance adjustments and some bug fixes. It might just be time to blow the dust and cobwebs off of your solar laser, and ready your Kinetic Defenses and get some practice in before the Deluxe Edition drops!


In minor news, I have taken over ownership of the Interplanetary Group. With this change, I hope to have more control over the organization of group games, as well as updating our group as we see fit as the game continues its progression. I have not planned any events at this time, but stay tuned for more info on scheduled matches in the very near future! And as always- feel free to meet up in the forums to try to find a match.
