Mark 2:28 (parallel: Matthew 12:8, Luke: 6:5, John 5:16-18)

Mark 2:28:
So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.'
John 5:16-18:
So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, 'My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.' For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Jews understood that Jesus Christ was making Himself equal with God (calling Himself God).

"Lord of the Sabbath" is the unique title of God.

Exodus 31:12-13:
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
Ezekiel 20:12:
I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the Lord made them holy.

Now, think about this: how can any creature be the LORD of the unique sign between God and Israel? Can any angelic being or a mere human prophet claim to be the "LORD of the Sabbath"?
If the Sabbaths belong to God, then NO ONE BESIDES GOD HIMSELF can rightfully claim to be the "Lord of the Sabbath".

There is only One Lord of the Sabbath - our Triune God Himself.

Therefore, Jesus Christ, by sharing the same Divine essence with the Father and the Holy Spirit, can rightfully claim to be the Lord of the unique sign between God and Israel, because He is God.
