Ok, someone else had the exact same problem and deleting the 3*.dll files did the trick for him. If you are not a Windows 10 user that should solve the issue.

Are you running an older version than Windows 10? Then it could very well be a known bug caused (as far as I know) by a new debugging tool that was recently added in an update. This was said about that on the official Discord channel:

"If you are running a version of Windows other than Windows 10 and cannot start the game, please delete the 3 *.dll files located here:
<Steam location>\steamapps\common\Ground Branch\GroundBranch\Binaries\Win64"

You could follow this instructions, or visit the Discord or Blackfoot Studios forums yourself so you can provide more details if necessary, just to be sure it's not a completely different problem. One of the devs can help you then. Good luck!

Posting this because not everyone seems to be aware of the existence of the test branch, basically a later build of the game that you have to opt in on. Its purpose is to test new builds before they become the new public build, in that way keeping public builds fairly stable. However, instability usually isn't that much of a problem for the test builds, and when people are playing online it's almost always on the dev server, that runs on the test branch.

If you would like to participate in the pre-update testing then right click on the Ground Branch listing in your library and select Properties then Beta and in the Beta Access Code area enter 'GroundBranchTesting' . You will then get an update. You will now see Ground Branch(testing) in your library.

At any time you can opt out and go back to the regular Ground Branch release.

Edit: A password is no longer needed to opt in.

I think everyone of the regular players is very noob friendly. Just join a game when people are playing. :) These days almost every saturday there is a group of people playing on the dev server. Check out Blackfoot Studios' forums or the Ground Branch Discord server if you want to know if something's been planned.
