Relaunching the site

We have decided to relaunch the site using enjin's free services.

If you would like to rejoin GeezersInArms, please go to our website www.geezersinarms.com and register.

We are basically starting over with a new site. We hope to focus more on gaming and having fun then moderating and dealing with BS.

Once you register, you will see a link to our free Discord server on the main page.

Looking forward to gaming with everyone again.

Fellow Geezers,

I am writing you today to let you know that the GIA staff has decided to wind down GIA as an active gaming group. We have spent the past several months discussing options and we unanimously decided this was in the best interest of the group. More than anything we didn't want GIA to just fade into the background without any explanation or official "goodbye".

Our overall membership engagement has decreased over the past 12 months - this includes everything from site visits and posts to average teamspeak population. There's been a lot that's keep people busy (staff included) and away from the site. It became clear that only a few core folks were keeping most of the topics running and we had stopped actively recruiting for new members. The staff has new commitments outside of gaming that limited what we could do to promote and manage the site which further complicated sustaining the group. In addition, the financial donations and Amazon revenue had dropped to almost zero which meant we had run out of funds for things like teamspeak and the premium site membership.

Having shared all this, we want you to know that we're not turning out the lights entirely. The site will remain running for a short while as we move to the free Enjin plan but a number of things will stop working - we're not entirely sure what the impact will be. You'll still be able to use the core enjin features which includes sending PMs to friends.

In addition, we've set up a Discord group for VOIP and chats. If you haven't used discord I recommend it - it's a free alternative to TeamSpeak and includes lots of features for chatting similar to GroupMe. One housekeeping note: any existing GroupMe channels and the Steam group will not be closing so you can continue to connect with your friends that way as well.

Finally, a big THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in this great group! I hope you'll continue to stay connected with each other and find time to visit discord and continue to share some good gaming together in the future.
